Women Leading in Education
Calling all aspiring women leaders across the North East… come & be part of the ‘Women Leading in Education’ Regional Network supported by the National College of Teaching & Leadership (NCTL).
In September 2016 the North East Schools Teaching Alliance, based in Middlesbrough, made a successful bid to lead the North East Regional Network for the Women Leading in Education project. The project is one of a number of Government supported leadership programmes and will run over 3 years. The network is one of 9 across the country.
A key part of the Government’s plan for education is to ensure that there is strong leadership in all schools resulting in the best outcomes for students. This includes removing barriers that stop individuals – such as women – reaching the leadership roles to which they aspire.
2016/17 was Year 1 of the project and the network facilitated 4 very successful events reaching over 120 delegates. These included a Launch event; a Workshop event; a trip to the WomenEd Conference in Sheffield and a Lead Meet / Plenary event.
The aims of this project are to create a supportive network of women who are aspiring / new senior leaders; aspiring / new middle leaders & Sixth Form students who see themselves as leaders of the future across the North East region. We also aim to identify and support more women with their career progression and into leadership roles. There will be a variety of opportunities to work collaboratively across the region and be inspired and empowered by like-minded women who share a passionate commitment around a common purpose.
