Inspiring Women

After 3 very successful years leading the Women Leading in Education North East Regional Network, the project has now come to an end. We were delighted with the number of colleagues who attended the wide variety of events offered. Over 400 came along to hear inspirational speakers, attend workshops, share experiences, and attend the Summer Conference. We were also delighted to hear of those who had found the courage to apply for promoted posts and be successful as well as those who had at long last found their voice and asked for what they wanted in their own school, and again, got it.

Through the project we built increasingly strong links with WomenEd and colleagues who attended the 2019 Summer Conference got a goody bag containing the book ‘10% Braver – Inspiring Women to Lead Education’, co-edited by WomenEd founders, Vivienne Porritt and Keziah Featherstone. It really is a must read! It makes us realise that the work is not done – that it must continue. To this end we made a successful bid to the Equality and Diversity Fund and ran an ‘Inspiring Women’ project in the Autumn / Spring terms 2019. We have now made a second successful bid to the Equality and Diversity Fund and will be running the second cohort of ‘Inspiring Women’. This project is aimed at a smaller group of approx. 15-20 women who will sign up to attend a number of events and activities, ultimately, fingers crossed, leading to a successful application to a promoted post.

If you would like to join this group, please see the flier & expression of interest form below. The project will start with a launch event on the afternoon of Wednesday 2nd October, (Vivienne Porritt will be there!), followed by 5 twilight sessions, concluding with a Plenary / Celebration event. We still intend to lead a Summer Conference in collaboration with WomenEd which will be open for anyone to attend. We are hoping that our Inspiring Women will lead some sessions at the Conference as well as anyone who wants to share their experience, expertise and story with others.

If you have any questions regarding ‘Inspiring Women’ please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via nsmith@nunthorpe.co.uk. If you would like to join or contribute to any of our work just get in touch and we can make it happen.

Always remember…
“Women don’t need to find a voice, they have a voice and they need to feel empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen.” – Megan Markle, Duchess of Sussex.

When women support each other incredible things do happen. Join us and see!
